#4. Donaghy's Bad Bets
NBA commissioner David Stern called it "the worst situation that I've ever experienced." In August referee Tim Donaghy pleaded guilty to two felony charges related to gambling (he will be sentenced in January). Donaghy admitted to passing inside information along to gamblers in exchange for cash. He also copped to betting on games himself. If you can't trust the refs, who can you trust? Stern called Donaghy an "isolated criminal" — but if other refs are involved, the NBA's darkest moments are yet to come.
